As a consultant, employee, coach, mentor, owner, I've always been puzzled by certain "de facto" things in companies and organizations.
I've seen a myriad of valid reasons for companies NOT to disclose salaries.
I've seen a lot of business owners be secretive with employee's salaries.
I've seen companies hide from their employees and partners how much they are making.
And that, I believe, is the cause of a tremendous amount of overhead both personal and professional.
Is anyone unaware that a company needs to earn money?
Is any employee unaware that the company has to pay for many more things other than payroll?
Is any business partner unaware of the fact that the company is making money out of their services?
So I ask, why do we hide it?... I admire @buffer since the day they published the companies earnings and internal salaries.
I believe that takes a lot of stress out of the organization, a lot of pressure, clarifies life objectives, and many more.
But you know what I believe is the most important thing that it fosters.
TRUST
I TRUST my team with the information about my company, they are part of it, from day 1.
I TRUST my company's value differentiation and uniqueness.
I TRUST my business partners to understand how they are an important part of our collective success.
Transparency breeds trust
Trust breeds teamwork
Teamwork breeds success
Since the beginning of the year, I've been pushing my organization to be more transparent, to walk the never-ending path of holacracy. To be a new breed of technology and creative agency.
