One thing I've quite frequently come across in my 18+ years of professional experience is people's behavior patterns of responding. It is extremely important that you cultivate the ability/ habit to respond. This factor not only applies to your business or job role but also to all other aspects in life. Whether it is your emails/ whatsapps/ calls/ texts/ other common forms of communication that you generally use, you must be able to respond.
It is a deciding factor of your level of efficiency. I'm sure we have all experienced our calls not answered or returned/ our texts or whatsapps not replied to/ our emails not responded to etc. etc., so why does this happen with most individuals we deal with on a day-to-day basis? No doubt, people are extremely busy and tend to prioritize what's most urgent during the day but what happens to the other important/ not so urgent matters? Ignore them?
There are many practical solutions you can adapt to encounter this dilemma. For instance, make it a point to check your emails at least once a day. Let’s say you’re overwhelmed with your day’s schedule and saw an email notification appear on your phone, if you happen to open it but unable to read it fully and respond then and there, just simply mark it as unread, so that you see it the next time you log into your account. Same solution goes for whatsapp. When it comes to calls and texts, make sure you go through your day’s call logs & texts at the end of the day and respond to whatever you have missed.
The above communication mediums are mentioned since they’re what I commonly and frequently use (as most people do) but you can adapt the same or different methods for other communication mediums if any. This will go a long way for you especially if you are working in a fast-paced environment.
