Resources for students during COVID-19:

COVID-19 has been an experience that will shape the way our generation thinks about work, solidarity, and disaster.

I want to do my part and help:

There has been a tremendous outpouring of support by individuals from numerous walks of life, bringing together resources to help each other rather than retreat during this time of crisis. Here a list below of resources I have scouted over the last couple of weeks and am excited to share:

Accelerated:

A community for students/young professionals interested in Venture Capital (VC)/Tech/Entrepreneurship. With 1800+ members from across the world, and started by two twin sisters: Justine Moore & Olivia Moore that are currently venture investors at CRV, this has been my go to resource for finding new opportunities and compelling people.

This is both a newsletter and slack community, with internships/jobs sent weekly in the newsletter, and 600-800+ talented students and job seekers scouring the internet individually and helping each other by posting jobs and opportunities for students interested in Tech/VC.

Heavy on VC postings, but there is something in there for everyone, and for students interested in the startup community more broadly. Sign up here: https://accelerated.carrd.co/

CoronaInterns:

A community created by Jacob Young & Wayne Robins- built out of an inspiration to help students looking for opportunities in the aftermath of COVID-19. Jacob, Wayne, and others post remote internship opportunities for 2020, provide a space for distributed resume feedback (you can post and anyone can give feedback), learning, and have a space/database for anyone in the community to share projects they are currently building (or even project ideas), find collaborators, and to get feedback. All you need is a University email to sign up, check it out here: https://join.slack.com/t/coronainterns/shared_invite/zt-ct0tswpt-AMS5jjGFGSv5Rh2ziccvpw

Other info:

Ed Yong has been a leading voice in raising awareness about US response and readiness in addressing a quarantine pandemic. As a staff writer at the Atlantic, Ed recently wrote a piece titled “How the Pandemic will end” providing context around the challenges and shortcomings that have led to the current situation, and thoughtful commentary on where it might lead. For anyone who wants context for the current situation, check this out along with Ed’s earlier article written in 2018 titled “The next plague is coming, is America prepared?”

Interesting Tid-bits:

A talented guy Ignacio Moreno built an app that helping people understand the math behind COVID-19, and hopefully to raise awareness about how important it is to take individual measures to fight coronavirus. Check out here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/flatten-the-curve

This is part 1 of a 3 part series in which I'll be highlighting resources & opportunities that help students and founders during this time.
