Resourceful, Outgoing and Motivated - Photographer Anna Markiewicz

Becoming a professional photographer takes ambition, inspiration, creativity and passion. With these characteristics, you too can find yourself in a blossoming career like Anna. Anna Markiewicz is a Chicago Portrait Photographer who also does weddings, events, commercial, landscape, and even creative and experimental photography. Anna also has a YouTube channel where she offers? photo editing tips using Lightroom and business advice for aspiring photographers. With a passion for creating photographs, Anna has taken her inspiration and transformed her life into any visual artist’s dream.

At a young age, Anna was introduced to photography by her father who was fascinated by landscape photography. Her father would take her and her sisters to take photos any chance they could. In middle school, Anna found that she actually started to enjoy the process of capturing a photograph. She took her dad’s advice and utilizing it; this inspired Anna to continue on this artistic journey. She began her career by practicing taking photos of landscapes and eventually moved onto taking photos of people. Anna’s first gig was photographing a wedding for a friend's mother and from there, she was getting booked by more and more of her friends. At this moment, her business in photography became reality. As an outgoing individual, Anna has always wanted to put 100% into everything she does, whether it be her art or the energy she is giving.?

As an artist, you get to choose who and what you capture, and you get to decide the look, colors and location/setting to create the vision you have or your client has. In a lot of Anna’s photos, you can see the use of natural colors and her use of making the images come to life is incredible. Lately, Anna has been using more bold and vibrant colors in her art to stand out more and to try something different. “I recently started dyeing my hair ginger red and everyone seems to really like it. It really made me try to bring out bold colors into my work, like deep reds and bright blues. I wanted to be able to stand out and find something that will be really attention grabbing for my clients.” She loves this part because this is where her creativity and experimental side flourishes.

Being a woman in the photography industry has been the biggest challenge for Anna, from interactions with not so kind people to dealing with people who question her ability, she had to rise from that and stand out against the rest. She loves the community that she is in because the majority of the time there is so much motivation and kindness that spreads around. Starting photography, people are more willing to help and show you the ropes. Anna's fear of criticism helped her become better – she now understands the importance of constructive criticism and how it is not to be negative, now Anna uses the criticism to make her future creations even better.

Since becoming a photographer, Anna has experienced many accomplishments, such as being chosen to be a guest judge for a photography conference for IAPD/IPRA Agency Showcase in Chicago and being published in various Magazines such as DREAMY Magazine.
