Resource Reallocation, the post COVID imperative
Post C OVID reset: GDP or GNW Gross national wellbeing and happiness.
BIGGEST challenge to post COVID will be the reallocation of national resources of people and money.
Much will depend on what criterion is used , whether we talk GDP –Gross Domestic product, OR GNW –Gross National Wellbeing.
GNW where we measure national happiness – think Maslow base:
Physiological needs are the lowest level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. They are the most essential things a person needs to survive. They include the need for shelter, water, food, warmth, rest, safety and health. A person's motivation at this level derives from their instinct to survive.
Our social and economic needs can only be satisfied if the basic Physiological need are met.
In the solution to fulfilling the basic Physiological needs society “builds” social cohesion and the economic inclusion.
An important part of Economic inclusion is the prioritization of SMME development. When you do these you develop the productive skills to deliver the means to “shelter, water, food, warmth, rest, and health”
To reset the South African economy allocate priority spending on “shelter, water, food, warmth, rest, and health” using SMME as the production vehicle.
SMME can only do this if it is supported by a healthy sustainable SME ecosystem which we remind is the collaborative and mutual responsibility and accountability of the triad : Government, Big Business and SMME .
This is not chicken and egg debate. It clearly shows where government must prioritize the use of our taxes “shelter, water, food, warmth, rest, and health” and building on that social and economic partners can deliver “market” growth for wellbeing, jobs, social cohesion and happiness.
To do this we have more tools that our predecessors like ICT and AI to succeed!
What allocation choices will Government, Big Business and SMME make?
