By Glunashrimp

The global shrimp industry experienced an unprecedented event with the launch of The Shrimp Masterclass at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, bringing together leading experts and professionals from over 11 countries and creating a truly international experience. As the first event of its kind in the United States, The Shrimp Masterclass offered a comprehensive educational immersion into the shrimp value chain, covering topics from genetics at hatcheries to farming technology, processing, sustainability, and export markets.

Organized by Gabriel Luna, The Shrimp Masterclass delivered an unparalleled educational experience covering all essential facets of the shrimp value chain. From genetics and broodstock insights at the hatchery stage led by renowned geneticist Joao Rocha to global farming practices and technological advancements highlighted by Robin Pearl of Sun Shrimp Farms, the event provided cutting-edge knowledge applicable to shrimp farming and processing operations.

“The goal of The Shrimp Masterclass is to offer participants insights that genuinely impact their businesses and promote the sustainable development of the industry,” stated Gabriel Luna, event founder. “We are proud to see so many attendees eager to gain a comprehensive view of each stage of the process and to strengthen their strategic capabilities.”

The event included practical sessions and lectures by prominent industry figures, such as Eduardo Arosemena from Kampi, who showcased how artificial intelligence is transforming decision-making in shrimp farms, and Scott Zimmerman, who explained FDA regulations on seafood processing and export in the U.S. Market dynamics and price volatility discussions were led by market analysis expert Angel Rubio, followed by a global shrimp trade and export outlook from Willem Van der Pijl of Shrimp Insights.
