Resonating Message

Resonating Message

I wrote an article a little while back where I shared some of my personal journey. I discussed a bit of my own struggles and achievements in my personal & professional life and a good bit about my physical and mental health. I wrote the article because I felt like I had learned a little something, and I wanted to share that in hopes that others may learn from my journey or be inspired, if only for a moment, to push thru that big ugly thing that steals your joy.

Since writing that article, I have had over a dozen in person conversations and several exchanges over text/LI messaging from both friends as well as bare acquaintances and nearly everyone I spoke to felt that the message and lessons learned resonated with them - they saw some part of their own struggles and growth. Many have found some peace, even through the wreckage of lost marriages, failing businesses, loss of health or the need to take care of loved ones that are failing.

I wanted to write a brief but important follow up to my last article, which is to say: you are not alone. We all feel this pressure to put on the pantomime of living a great life and many of us do that for much of the time. But every one of us without fail has a bad run. This may be days, weeks, months or years. The hardest part is accepting that as humans we try, we fail, we try again, we fail, we try again and succeed. That is the journey of life.

We should all strive to find paths to a future that is brighter. Realize that we only get one shot at this, let's minimize the amount of time we spend feeling down and keep our eyes on building towards better future days. Use that image of a trip or an experience to grind it thru even on a Friday. Remember that work does not always have to suck... but if all you do is complain about things you are part of the reason it sucks. Be the person that brings in some breakfast burritos... turn that camera on and smile even if it's just coworkers... speak up and be heard.
