Resolutions Are So Last Year, Just Play Bingo!

Resolutions Can't Come to the Phone Right Now. Why? Because They're Dead.

New Year's resolutions are officially obsolete. Every year, we set grandiose goals — "This year, I'll lose X pounds!" or "I'm finally going to learn Chinese!" (Actually, I’m on a 340 day streak, 谢谢 Duolingo , but that wasn't a NY resolution — and I digress.) And what happens? By February, those goals fizzle out like fireworks.

So why not try something more fun, more flexible, and honestly, more achievable?

Enter: The New Year Bingo Card.

A Bingo Card for your New Year’s goals is exactly what it sounds like — a game. Instead of locking yourself into rigid resolutions, create a grid with personal and professional goals you can check off as you go. It’s about progress, not perfection.

And it’s way more fun.

How to Make Your Own Bingo Card

  • Set Goals: 24 to be exact. Mix personal and professional goals — no pressure to make them life-altering. Want to try a new workout? Check. Update your headshots? Check. Travel to a new place? Check. Heck, toss in some external predictions. I added "proof that aliens exist" because it just feels inevitable.
  • Design Your Card: I used Canva to create mine. It was super easy to find a template and make it my own. I’m posting this beauty in my home office all year. Plus, if you're treat motivated like me you can incentivize yourself if you win. If I complete my Bingo, I’ll reward myself with a new surfboard (as illustrated on the card).
  • Track Your Wins: Every time you complete a goal, mark it off. It’s like a mini-celebration every time you check a box. Multiple “Bingo!” moments throughout the year? Heck yes.

Why Bingo Works

  • No Pressure: Unlike resolutions, Bingo is flexible. You don’t have to do it all at once — and you can adjust goals along the way. Shoot, you don't even have to complete it by Jan 1. If you're reading this and it's March, make the board anyway.
  • Fun: It’s more of a game than a chore. Celebrate the small wins as they come.
  • Motivation: Seeing your progress visually on the board is powerful. If you get stuck, look at your card for inspiration.

TLDR

The new year doesn’t need to be about achieving perfection — it’s about progress. Ditch the stress of resolutions and embrace the fun and flexibility of a New Year Bingo Card.

If life's a game, you might as well play.

OOH. And check out my bingo card:
