Resolutions and Revolutions—Bring It On!

Welcome to 2025!
I hope this year brings you growth, fulfilment, and professional success.
Many people have asked me about my 2025 resolutions, but I don’t operate like that. The word "resolution" is defined as “a firm decision to do or not to do something”—and quite frankly, I don’t need to wait until the end of the year to act on something I feel strongly about.
If you know me well, you’ll already know that I’ve got most areas of wellbeing fairly well covered in my personal life. So, if I were to have any kind of resolution, it would be focused on the professional side of things.
This year, one thing I’m absolutely resolute about is helping leaders and HR professionals (or those in HR services) gain a clear understanding of their legal responsibilities when it comes to managing workplace health.
Throughout 2024, when I asked HR professionals if they could summarise their employer’s legal duty of care regarding employee health in one or two sentences, less than 5% answered correctly. Most responses were along the lines of:
- “We have an EAP provider.”
- “X% of our employees are mental health first aiders.”
- “We run activities during Mental Health Awareness Month.”
While these initiatives are valuable, they miss the mark. It’s like asking someone, “How do you get from home to work?” and hearing, “I’ve got a steering wheel,” “I’ve got rear view mirrors,” and “I’ve got tyres.”
If I were to declare a resolution for 2025, it would be this:
Through the Dharma Academy (and yes, we’ve got our native app now—yay!), my mission is to:

“Empower leaders and HR professionals to improve retention, engagement, and performance by providing easy access to the knowledge and tools required to fully comply with their legal obligations toward their people.”
Here's to a year of meaningful progress. May all your resolutions—and mine—come to fruition this year!
