Resolutions- Make you or Break you?

This new year brings in another fresh start, new hopes, momentum, and excitement. Everyone is pumped up with new goals and aspiration to start their new business or a new job, travel etc. As much as I personally love seeing anyone accomplishing their goals it hurts to see the resolution in the garbage bin even before the new year has even set its foot in properly.

Most of the resolutions are abandoned by the 2nd week of February. Shocking, but true! Since I would hate for you to fall in the same category, here are few steps to help you to follow through:-

1. State ‘Why’

Any venture that has ever succeeded has always had a strong sense of purpose and reason which helped it survive all the hardships. Stating ‘why’ it is utmost important for you to achieve your goal.It will help to maintain an inner driving force to gain self-motivation. The stronger the ‘Why’ the less likely you will give up.

Hence jot down not only what you want to achieve but also ‘WHY’ you want it

2.Write it down

As silly as this may sound, it’s a fact that you are more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down. Most people only imagine their goals in their head and thus they can only keep imagining the result.

So make sure you write them down clearly. This also acts as a constant reminder in case you do happen to deviate.

3.Visualize it

This process helps to give you a clear picture of what you really aim to achieve by giving clarity. Also training your mind and body for the accomplishments can be very motivating. This is backed by a quote which states ‘People might forget what you did or said to them but they will never forget how you made them feel.’

Emotions can be a huge driving force and hence keeping the emotion attached to the picture will help you stick around.

4.Take Action and Review

An amazing action plan and hard work have no substitutes. But, never confuse momentum with progress and for that a periodic review is essential. As they say, you must never look back unless it’s to see how far you have come. This helps you not only to stay focused but also analyze what is working well and what is not.

5.Reward yourself

Whether it be a bucket of ice cream, shopping or spa always learn to celebrate your achievements no matter how small. It’s the most important drive that focuses humans to perform better. So tick those tasks off and then go pamper yourself.

Making sure your resolution and the actions contain all the five pointers these will definitely help you make this year fulfilling. If there is any other important aspect you use to achieve your resolutions please comment below and share it with others. Until then…

HAPPY RESOLUTION MAKING!
