Resolutions 2021

Exactly one year ago I posted my 2020 resolutions. What was to be my “Year of Perfect Vision” certainly didn't turn out as expected. Knowing that it can take up to 35 seconds for someone with cognitive loss to process verbal directions before they answer, my intention had been to slow down my “inner New York” rush to jump in and take action. 2020 instead taught me that life as I knew it would make any of my actions (proactive or not) come to a crawl or even a standstill. While I had to accept this, I didn't have to like it. And I didn't.

I am so excited for 2021. The word that means the most to me now is “new.” The thought of a 'new' year, a 'new' agenda, a 'new' vaccine, a chance for a 'new' normal. A future with family, hugs, in-person visits, no masks...that is something that will never get old! In an odd way my “Year of Perfect Vision” did come true. It did get me to slow down, to grasp the moment, to relish family connections and friendships, to realize how essential it is to have face-to-face contact with each other.

Wishing you all a safe, healthy, connected New Year.
