Resolution to Reality!!

New year, new resolutions! Of late, I came across many people who do not believe in making resolutions, for the fact that excitement to follow the same dies by the end of the first week. It is also because as we progress with the new year, circumstances change and so does your goal. So many then question the point of making goals when you either lose the motivation to follow through or situations complicate the progress.
So, let's dive in to understand why we are unable to keep up with the goals.
Grandiose: - As much as dull energy depletes mental strength, so does high energy and/or high excitement. On the surface, the projected journey starts from point A to point B. But during the year-long journey, many factors need to be taken into consideration to make it a success. It is not just one big thing to achieve but many small steps to take over the year. Here are a few aspects to reflect upon:
·??Are you systematic and gradual in increasing the difficulty level or do you unrealistically visualise and plan your goals?
·??Do you review and revise the plan along the way based on your progress or do nothing with changing circumstances?
·??Do you give up when it gets tough or take a break and begin from where it was left off?
Herd Mentality: - Are you setting resolutions or goals because everyone is doing it and it is cool to do so, or do you set resolutions to see yourself progress and do better than yesterday or last year? Following the trend is external motivation while the desire to be better than yesterday is an internal motivation.
When you are internally motivated, contentment probability is higher and the growth journey is more likely to be continuous as it is something that you want for yourself.

Disappointment: - Be open to face hurdles, sometimes you may predict challenges and have a plan ready, and other times you will have face unpleasant surprises that derail you. Disappointment and failure are part of the growth journey—openness to conquer the same will be a part of your success story.
Make your resolution a reality by keeping it simple, gradual, and continuous.
·?Do not wait for a specific day, date, or a year. If you feel you have scope for improvement, take that first step today. Baby steps is how it begins.
·?Ask yourself the whys and hows when you know where you want to improve in. Asking yourself those questions can help you to see your hesitations, fears or weaknesses to be worked upon.
· Growth is not linear but multi-dimensional. Be realistic not only in setting the goals but sailing through the failures to successes. Plan and review your goals on a timely basis to ensure you’re headed in your desired direction.
· Pause and reflect on your growth journey and appreciate how far you have come. Reflect on where things went out of hand and how did you conquer the same.
·?Ask for support when needed and upgrade yourself. Learning and adapting or having a new perspective is necessary.
·?Enjoy the process, be mindful about it rather than just going with the flow. Working through the change demands persistence, passion, and consistency. Take time out to notice how beautifully you have blossomed so far.
