Resolution 2020

You know that drawer you’ve got… you know the one I mean, the messy one that is full of stuff you need, but never gets sorted out!
C’mon own up, we’ve all got one!
Well, to be honest! over the last couple of years, my Art and Photography websites have got a bit like that drawer. They have grown organically as I took on new projects, but ended up being in a mess.
So I thought I would make it my New Year Resolution to sort it out, and for a brief time I felt pleased with myself for making the decision, and then reality dawned.
What’s the problem with most New Year resolutions?
Yep… they just don’t happen – good intentions and all that, but that’s often all it is.
I decided that instead of sorting it all out in the New Year, I would do it FOR the New Year and, I am pleased to say that after the last few weeks of some major reorganisation and graphic creation I have reduced two websites into one and made that one much cleaner and easier to navigate, and all in time for Christmas.
So, I thought I would put this post together to give you a quick intro to the new site and hope that you will take a few minutes to look around.
The key areas are:
The ‘Living’ Gallery – This project is based on each piece representing a living thing. Each piece starts with the photograph of that life and then I transform that into the essence of that life as I feel it. Take a look
The ‘Feeling’ Gallery – This is my new project where I am creating art that represents what our thoughts and feelings might look like if we could see them. Take a look
The ‘Collecting’ Gallery – This gallery displays those moments I have captured with my camera that I think would grace a wall. Take a look
Art Commissions – An opportunity to have some unique art created just for you and based on the subject of your choice. Take a look
Photography Commissions – When you want something that will have a genuine impact at work, with the Family, for Promotion of your band or hobby etc. this is where you can hire me and my camera to capture something special for you. Take a look
Also with the new site, you have the opportunity to browse through all my published photography on Flickr and, if you see something that you would like to turn into a canvas, you can email me with the image title and I will make it available for you personally with print options.
I’m really pleased with the result and, I hope, you like it too when you get a chance to browse.
I am also keeping my fingers crossed that 2020 will generate more commission and more print sales as a result, so wish me luck.
Finding new clients is tough in a crowded market for all photographers and artists, so I’m sure you won’t mind me asking that you share this post and/or my website with your friends and colleagues and help me make 2020 something special.
Here’s wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year
p.s. If you haven’t already, please subscribe and get any news as I put it out. I tend to write a post every four to six weeks so it won’t be taxing on your inbox…
Best wishes
Iain Merchant
