ResoLex quarterly update | Q2 2024

For the first six months of the year, we’ve seen incredible growth at ResoLex, with the team expanding (more information below!)and bringing even more value to our clients. We have attended some great industry events and held two insight events of our own – thank you to all who attended and participated!

Take a few minutes to find out more:

?As mentioned, it has been an extremely exciting time for us as we have welcomed two new Consultants and a Director this quarter. Each new member of the team brings a vast range of specialist skills and experiences from across the industry. We are honoured to welcome them and excited to see them get stuck in! Meet them and find out more below:

?

Jay van den Boogaard

Jay recently joined us as a Consultant, he has experience in delivering a range of short and long-term projects. With a focus on designing and implementing actions to develop client organisational capability, Jay has experience in managing project timelines, conducting research and analysis and creating and delivering presentations to client organisations.

Most importantly, we asked Jay, if he could be any animal what would he be and why? His response was:

'I would be an elephant because they are loyal, kind, fun-loving and the true kings of the jungle!'

Sam Platten

Sam has also joined the team recently as a Senior Consultant. Sam is passionate about delivering transformative change and enabling businesses and teams to achieve their goals. He has a wealth of experience in client-facing roles in various industries combined with an understanding of strategy and project management.

We also asked Sam the all-important question and his reply was:

‘I would probably say… a donkey. Firstly, it’s my favourite animal (it has been for as long as I can remember) and I would say because they are reliable, strong, and hardy - much like a horse but almost in stealth. They’re also really stubborn and I find that funny, but overall they’re generally quite a sweet animal’.

Lisa Martello

Last but certainly not least, some of you may know Lisa from before her travels to Australia as Lisa Hogben. Lisa has joined us as a Director and as part of the leadership team. Lisa has over 15 years of experience building and leading diverse, collaborative, and inclusive teams on major infrastructure projects around the world.

We asked Lisa the all-important question and here is her answer:

I would be a honeybee because they are social and live with other bees in all kinds of cool locations; they are really useful, with one out of every three mouthfuls of our food depending on pollinators like bees; they are lovers, not fighters – they can only sting once in their life and then they die shortly afterwards and they get to fly around and spend loads of time hanging out on pretty flowers.

Earlier this month, we were invited to join the International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM) 2024-25 Roundtable series: “Rethinking boundaries in Complex Projects – Navigating the intersections and interplay of functions and stakeholders across the project lifecycle”. The event posed some interesting insights and perspectives on the artificial nature of the boundaries within complex project environments. We’ve written a summary of the key themes, you can read the full article on our website here.

Our workshops are designed to challenge some of the ‘norms’ in the industry and give our delegates the opportunity to input into some more of the practical applications of the things we talk about. It can be easy to share industry best practice and lessons learned but showing industry leaders how to make it happen in real complex project environments is our mission.?

In June, we partnered with the Major Projects Association for an interactive workshop focusing on the impact of leadership in delivering successful outcomes through major projects, specifically through the role of clients and delivery team leaders. The workshop explored the role of different leaders and the responsibilities they own throughout the project lifecycle and then, looking at whether this is the best scenario or whether we can challenge the norm for better outcomes. We were joined by Emma-Jane Houghton, who began the conversation on the ‘Incomplete Client’ and further challenged the industry's perspective on clienting.
