Resisting and embracing resistance

RESISTANCE is a word that has been coming up a lot lately in my world, which has caused me to pause and consider the role resistance is playing in my life.?
Resistance is defined this way:?
Today, I’d like to talk to you about two types of resistance.?
One type is resisting the bad things. This type of resistance is refusing to accept the temptation to do something I shouldn’t do. For instance, I must resist the donuts tempting me right now because if I don’t, it will prevent me from reaching my goal of losing weight. ???
The Bible says in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Definitely a good kind of resisting to embrace, wouldn’t you say?
Another type is the resistance we feel when something great is about to happen. For instance, we know how wise it is to step away from our work for a few minutes and just go get a breath of fresh air or how much better we feel when we go for a walk each day. And yet, when we are hard at work, we resist doing what we know is good for us, even though we know that something great will happen as a result–we’ll come back to our work refreshed and invigorated and better able to focus.?
I have found that when I felt that kind of resistance in the past, the old me would have refused to move forward to go after that great thing and
instead would take the path of least resistance–the easier way that would probably not have gotten me to that great thing. Definitely a resistance that needs to be resisted!
The new me, however, has learned to embrace that pushback, and more times than not, the breakthrough comes shortly after resisting the resistance.?That kind of resistance definitely pays off!
What does resistance mean to you? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s talk soon!?
BE INTENTIONAL!
