RESIST

James 4:7 (b) Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The more I walk in the Lord, the more I see that the Lord wants me to work, hard! ? He wants me to do stuff. ?He doesn’t wave a magic wand and voila! I am sinless, perfect Christian with shiney white teeth, energetic, full of energy, and a hundred pounds lighter. ? God loves us and take us as we are, but if we love Him like we say we do, we will do what He wants. ?And He wants us all to work!

Philipians?2:12?work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

You have to repent! ? That’s not to just a tear shed once in a church. ?It requires works that show you are truly sorry. ?Bake a cake for a neighbor you were mean to. ?Return what you owe. Fix something you broke. Hunt someone down and apologize.

Acts 26:20 they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

People just don’t get saved and instantly turn into a nice, righteous person overnight. Just like if you eat a gallon of ice cream one night you don’t wake up obese. If you eat a gallon of ice cream every night though, you will become obese. Series of choices. Becoming a good Christian means zillions of little right choices, and keeping your heart submitted tonGod, faithfully following Him. It requires a decision to change your heart, how you do things repetitively, out of habit because of a changed way of thinking (repentance).

There’s all kinds of books about how to be humble, how to live a holy life, how to live sin free. ? Although I don’t know anyone who is an expert on these subjects except for Jesus, people still insist on trying to be fake authorities on these matters. ? The answer is in the first part of this verse, not in a book. ?The opposite of resisting is submission.

James 4:7 (a) Therefore submit to God

Once you submit (gerund, continually) fully to God, you adapt. Submitting continually to God becomes a lifestyle. Along with that, as a littke side benefit, resisting the devil will soon become 2nd nature. ? The stronger you submit to God, the stronger you’ll resist the devil, because your love for God will grow. And Satanic things (sin) will cheapen in allure and value.

We are going through a nightmare right now down here. ?It’s horrible. ?it’s one of the worst things I have ever experienced in my life. It’s horrible but it’s a growing process. ?REJOICE!! It’s making PureHeartChildren’sFund and me better, not bitter!

Romans 8:28 All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord?

I am finding that when I submit strongly to God, I resist the devil strongly. ?If I am not very submitted, I barely resist. ?It’s a decision, will power always wins. Will Power and Love are directly proportional. Like wise, resisting and submitting are proportional.? Also, ?the power of submitting to God (provided for by our love for God) and Love are proportional as well. The more we love, the more we are submitted. The more submitted we are, the more we resist

• I resist pride by recognizing that without God, i wouldn’t have His faith, belief in Him, His Holy Spirit in me, His strength, His love nor His goodness in me. ? Only a wise person recognizes He is nothing without God.
• Proverbs 11:2: "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom
• I resist slothfulness because a lot of people depend on Him operating through me. ? He is my motive. ?I try to please him by doing everything to perfection. I al blowing it every time, but His grace makes me want to improve. ? I don’t have a perfectionist mindset, but I want one. ? I want the self-discipline/ self-control that Galatians 5 talks about in fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law, 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

• I resist anger, name calling and blame shifting because that’s the ‘old man’ that I put off when I got saved. ?

Ephesians 4:22 that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

• I resist unholiness and anything resembling it. I am a new creature in Christ.

Ephesians 4:24 and that ye put on the new man, which after which God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

• I resist the evil plans and schemes of my own wretched thoughts, those of others trying to influence me and even Satan himself. Resist means to ‘stand against’.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
