Resilient Teams

As I reflect on 2023 the word that comes to my mind over and over again is Resilient.?

Resilience is not just a quality; it’s a force that breathes life into teams, turning challenges into triumphs. I have had the honor of witnessing the Syrup team navigate the highs and lows, and it’s clear to me that resilient teams possess a unique set of characteristics that set them apart.

Resilient teams are resourceful, effective and focused.

Resilient teams are humble, open and honest.

Resilient teams believe in themselves and each other.

Resilient teams cultivate environments full of trust, empathy and energy.

Resilient teams can improvise, are adaptable and can thrive in the face of adversity.

Here are a few ways to support and foster resiliency in your team:

1. Create and consistently reinforce a compelling vision – A compelling vision can transcend daily challenges. Resilient teams rally around a collective mission, finding strength in something greater than themselves.
2. Provide opportunities for growth – Give your team members the time, resources and space to grow as professionals and as individuals and celebrate the milestones as they evolve.
3. Foster a culture of trust and accountability – To grow together, fight together and win together, resilient teams need to be in environments where they feel safe to share feedback, challenges and opportunities.
4. Give freedom within the structure – Establish a consistent system with clear constraints while affording your team the freedom and responsibility to operate within that framework. This delicate balance ensures alignment and develops improvisation and adaptability skills.

Through all that 2023 brought us,? I have no doubt resilient teams are essential to overcoming challenges and driving growth. With the new year comes a fresh start and new goals, I encourage you to consider including ways to build and grow resiliency in your team in your 2024 plans.
