Resilient Cities Don't Fear Rainy Days
Copenhagen's Lykke Leonardsen, who oversees both the city's Climate Adaption and Storm Surge Plans, is arguably one of the leading municipal experts on how cities can cope with natural disasters ranging from torrential downpours to rising sea levels.
Yet she says she continues to learn as much as she gives back while interacting with other urban leaders through her involvement with ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability.
Her sagely advice in terms of sharing ideas is not to simply try and replicate what other cities are doing, recognizing each urban area is uniquely different. Instead she says "look at some of the things other cities are doing and then translate it into local context."
