Resiliency in Mind and Body

Resiliency in Mind and Body

I remember being in the military as a young gun and looking at the older guys (old guys at the beginning of your enlistment are 27-30+) and making fun of them for being weak and slow. They almost always said something akin to, "Wait until you're my age. You'll see".

?

Here I am at 31 and I feel great. I'm running further and faster and as strong as I've ever been. (I’m aware 31 isn’t very old in the grand scheme of things, but it’s a military bench mark for “old guy”)

?

Golden nuggets

I accredit that all to other people bestowing what I like to call "golden nuggets of knowledge" upon me. If I hadn't been told to change my diet after 2 years as an explosives instructor, I may not be here today. Eating liver regularly and trusting in multivitamins helped me balance my hormones and see through the foggy haze that was depression, anxiety, confusion and sexual dysfunction.

?

I would have never opted to eat liver without a golden nugget of knowledge. The taste is abrasive and the texture is odd. Likewise, I wouldn't have bought a 75$ supplement that only lasts me a month without substantial convincing.

?

Stronger than ever

For my 31st I benched 315lbs 31 times (non-consecutive) and ran 31 miles. I couldn't or wouldn’t have done that in any other year of my life. I may have been able to, but I never would have opted to spend a Sunday that way. I also don't want to be braggadocios, I'm really just trying to highlight the clarity I gain from proper diet and exercise.

?

In the next 4 weeks ,I'll be in AZ in a race swimming 5 miles and running 50 w/ a 45lbs ruck. Ill be in FL for a gator hunt and a speaking engagement after that, then I'll be on to CO to hunt elk, then CA for my Masters, OH for some hometown White-tail, AL for podcast and media production, and back to Reno Nevada to close on a home and unpack. (Yes, the RV life is coming to an end)

?

Life isn't easy sometimes, but it becomes infinitely harder if you don't choose to take care of yourself. I have a few tips and tricks I'd love to share to anyone, for free, at any time.

?

Healing invisible injuries

Human health and mental health stem from intake and output. Your gut and brain are like small fires that need to be stoked with the right fuel and need to be given the right space to expand. If you fill your body with junk your fire will go out, just as if you poured water on it. I learned that lesson the hard way and I hope you don't have to.

?

If you're interested in some health tips to get back on track, especially you veterans out there who are feeling off, hit me up. Just like my veterans benefits information, any advice from me is free to you.

?

My only ask would be that you spread the word. If you need help with your mental, physical or financial health I bet I can help. The financial portion comes from properly applying your veterans benefits and make a plan with them. I reiterate. This is FREE. I don't charge vets for advice.

?

Stay tough. Stay resilient.
