This is Resilience

What is Resilience?
Let′s use an illustrative example here:
This is a rubber ball.?
The ball has a certain degree of elasticity and flexibility
It can bounce and bounce against something without breaking and also without breaking whatever it impacts.
It can change direction when bouncing.
It can also change the speed with which it travels
After all this bouncing around the ball is still strong enough to remain intact and to maintain its original shape and consistency.
?This is resilience!
What does it mean to be a Resilient Person?
A resilient person is someone who has the tools to manage their emotions and stay balanced even in difficult situations.
Resilient people are open and accepting of change, demonstrate flexibility and view challenges as opportunities.
As a Resilient Leader you will need to regulate your emotions, feel balanced, and demonstrate that to others even in the face of uncertainty and adversity.
Here is a 3 step approach that will help you make resilience a reality:
Step 1: Assess the current state of your relationship with resilience
Step 2: Envision the future
Step 3: Create a game plan to continue building resilience?
?? #1 Current state assessment
How resilient you are today?
How prepared are you to respond successfully in the face of adversity, major uncertainty or crisis?
What are you doing now to promote your own resilience?

?? #2 Future state envisioning
What degree of resilience will you need as a leader for the future?
What types of adversity and change do you envision dealing with in the future?
Some example can be:
What resilience skills will you need to be prepared for these types of disruptions?
?? #3 Action planning
Design your approach to building and maintaining the resilience you need.
Where do you most need to develop, shift or supplement what you are current doing in order to reach you future goal?
Developing Resilience
Developing resilience requires self- observation, requires making conscious decisions that lead towards emotional regulation and requires day-to-day practice.
It is a commitment and an investment that will make you stronger in times of calm and better equipped to withstand threats and successfully adapt to changes.
