We're devoting our February and March Resilience At Work Newsletters to the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report that ranks resilience as a top 10 skill.
In our last issue, I drilled into these findings to shed light on why resilience, flexibility and agility, once regarded as "soft skills", are now widely considered to be core abilities critical at all levels of a high-functioning workforce. If you missed it, you can click on the picture below to review.
I also listed 3 additional topics that we'd be exploring in the coming weeks:
Rather than waiting until late March to cover bottom line impact, today let's take a look at the real value of building resilience in the workforce. After all isn't this what really matters?
Over the past 25+ years, our work has shown solid, measurable increases in productivity, performance, and revenue across virtually all job types, levels and industries.
Let's take a look at some of these findings. We've got data to share.
Resilience Matters in Sales
Salespeople with high resilience levels outsell their peers by a factor of 2! This is especially true in sales and lead generation roles with high levels of cold calling and rejection.
Our work shows that successful salespeople have resilient mindsets that keep them in the game when the going gets tough. And resilient mindsets can be learned and boosted with Adaptiv Resilience Training.
Most sales training programs focus on sales skillsets, with little or no attention paid to sales mindsets. Adding Adaptiv Resilience Training to any good sales skills training process can ensure even better bottom line performance.
As sales leaders analyze their training plans for the year, I encourage you to get in touch with me to learn how we can help you achieve your 2024 sales goals.
Resilience Matters In Front Line Attendance & Productivity
We provided resilience training for 1,900 first line telecom managers that were struggling with high levels of absenteeism among their unionized installation and repair crews. This was resulting in major backlogs in customer installations and repairs.

After training, attendance rose significantly, along with increases in installation and repair rates. Managers also reported reduced burnout and greater levels of engagement. The company credited Adaptiv Resilience Training with savings in the millions of dollars.
Resilience Matters Everywhere In The Workplace
At first glance, these numbers might seem to good to be true. But they're based on real field study results and analytics from resilience training participants. And even if you're only willing to believe a portion of this training effect, you should still be able to justify an investment in workforce resilience building.
Along these lines, I met with a health system HR leader to talk about the impact of clinical staff burnout. Physician and nurse turnover was costing the hospital in both replacement costs and patient satisfaction. We knew that building clinician's resilience skills would help them better manage work-related stress more effectively, and I proposed a blended resilience training solution for them.
The hospital CEO was under pressure to trim expenses and was skeptical about our ability to reduce burnout and turnover at the levels in the above chart. When we told the CEO they only needed to reduce turnover by one physician to justify the cost of resilience training for more than 80 clinicians, it made the buy decision much easier!
