Resilience is the Key to Job Searching

Back in April, we posted about How to be Resilient. We wanted to share this again because it is one of the elements of advice we shared with you yesterday in our article on Advice for New Starters.

How to be Resilient.

Personal Resilience in the face of adversity can be hard - a real test of our ability to cope with stress and challenge in a positive and productive way. It is our Bouncebackability - which we mentioned in a previous post in April - that will enable us to maintain hope and optimism.

Rather than it being a character trait, it is more a set of skills, attitudes, and behaviours that can be developed and strengthened over time.

These skills include -

Having a positive attitude and mindset - this can be described as having a positive outlook on life and being able to reframe challenges as opportunities for growth and learning.

Emotional Intelligence - developing emotional intelligence to recognise and manage emotions in a healthy and constructive way.

Adaptability and Flexibility - being able to adapt to change and be flexible in the face of uncertainty, changing plans in changing circumstances.

Strong relationships and social support - having strong social networks and supportive relationships that help during times of stress and adversity.

Self-care and self-compassion - ensuring that self-care and compassion to oneself is prioritised, even in difficult times.

Building a set of skills and habits that support resilience will also help grow your ability to develop resilience; this includes mindfulness, self-reflection, regular exercise and good nutrition.

So what do you think you need to focus on to ensure your personal resilience is even stronger?
