Welcome to?The Israeli Startup Review, a curated newsletter where I share insights from thought leaders, news, and opportunities around Israel's tech ecosystem. Every other week you’ll receive timely analysis from off-the-beaten-path, perspectives from the ecosystem, and selected opportunities to further engage with Israel, the?#startupnation

As we’re going through a very difficult period in history (and generally, an extremely low point for human behavior), make sure to take care of yourself… and hug a loved one a bit tighter.

An important piece in the Observer by VC David Teten on: Why and How Investors Can Fight Terror

I'm raising money privately for special projects related to Israeli soldiers, if you'd like to help support Israel's fighting force on the frontline message me directly.

I'm debating putting together a lower price point ticket/larger attendance networking fundraiser in order to raise money for the soldiers in the coming weeks in New York, if you're interested in helping (or attending) let me know.

"For every fallen soldier, for every murdered civilian, let’s put together a new innovative startup," says entrepreneur Izhar Shay, whose son was killed by Hamas: This is such a beautiful and powerful idea with such profound utility. Israel’s enemies, the Jewish people’s enemies, enemies of the West and of humanity want to destroy us. What we will do is build something amazing in the name of those who were taken from us… which improves the lives of people across the globe.

On a personal note, doom scrolling through Instagram, and even LinkedIn, seeing the images, and reading of these unspeakable horrors, I feel it’s hard to write on any other topic related to Israel except this massacre. I find myself sitting in grief and just shaking my head at the horror of it all. But in honoring those who were brutally murdered, we need to build something, and show that their lives and good deeds serve as a light. This world is so cruel, and it is painful to hear all these clearly morally bankrupt arguments on moral equivalency… it’s at times like this that you ask yourself how can people be so hateful. This is our burden, and we’re stepping up to face this unrelenting (in person and online) challenge… we’ll ultimately triumph, but unfortunately at a high cost of lives lost.

This is hell, and as is the case with hell, we just need to keep going through it to get to the other side. But more than that, to still strive to build and make the world a better place, whether it’s one innovative startup at a time or other ways to build from the destruction brought on us.

Israel's true power comes from it's human capital.
