Is Resilience Different Than Perseverance?

Is Resilience Different Than Perseverance?

This one topic has been on my mind and on my readers’ minds for quite a while now. I think it’s a good time that we talk about this very important subject, understand the difference and act accordingly.???

Resilience?refers to our ability to recover or adapt after experiencing adverse events. Resilient people tend to bounce back better than those who aren't.

Perseverance?means to keep going even when encountering setbacks. People who persevere often achieve success because they refuse to give up.

How To Grow Our Resilience Trait?

Of course, the pandemic we are enduring has taken its toll on everyone's mental health. We've seen friends lose loved ones, businesses go bankrupt, and entire industries shut down.?

In addition to all these external factors, there's also the internal pressure of living that we all experience in our lives. This can lead us to the importance of developing resilience and exercising perseverance to keep moving forward with positivity and goals.

Improving The Action of Perseverance

For us to succeed, we need the perseverance to get the results we desire. A successful person must persevere through obstacles and setbacks. Willpower alone won't be enough. People who believe they aren't good enough for something don't even attempt it because they fear failure. People who are persistent through adversity tend not to be affected by their environment.

Persistence is simply continuing forward even when there's resistance, which comes from everything around us; the world can always find something they don't like. Sometimes it will come from within because we don't know where to start, what to do next, fear of the unknown, doubting oneself, or things don't go according to plan. Repeated efforts lead to success. Sometimes those efforts need to be done when the wind and spit and dust are blowing into our faces and eyes.

The tits-bits of Building Resilience/Perseverance?

Are we interested in becoming resilient or learning strategies that lead to perseverance? It is important to emphasize the importance of this being one of our long-term goals. When it comes to perseverance and resilience, it's vital to think positively and have peace and joy in our lives.

5 Steps to have Resilience and Perseverance

We all face our own unique set of difficult circumstances. Some of us have exercised our resilience muscles more than the others.

1. Relationships

We can all identify critical people in our lives. But when building relationships, we have to know who the right people are to make a relationship. We all hear frightening stories relating to relationships in our societies. For some, it takes years to realise that it is not worth it to keep certain relationships, be it social, personal or professional.

One of the most important relationships we have is with the Divine. Of course, not everyone has God as an emphasis in their life. One relationship that is universal is the relationship with ourselves. It would be superb if we are kind and accepting of who we are. We should also surround ourself with compassionate and empathetic people. It is good to have a support group, even if only one or two correct key people.

2. Self-Care

Wellness in self-care?isn't just a trendy fad; it is essential to maintaining good physical and mental health and building resilience. Positive lifestyle choices like good nutrition, proper exercise, plenty of water, and adequate rest can help keep our body and mind ready for whatever happens in life.

Practice mindfulness?through journaling, prayer or meditation, or yoga and breathing exercises. These simple practices can help us be prepared to cope with difficult situations. It can help us develop more gratitude. And gratitude has a significant impact on your resilience.

Avoid negative?outlets?that can be self-destructive, like negative self-talk, anger, jealousy smoking, drugs, or alcohol. These substances can mask pain, but they will never solve our problems.

3. De-stress

Stress is something that every human experiences at some point in their life. Sometimes, stress is necessary to push us to grow. When we stress out, let’s take time to reflect on what caused the stress. Was it a situation where we were forced into action or did we create the situation by taking on too much responsibility??

Identify signs of stress?that are building in our life. Signs of stress are unique and can manifest both physically and emotionally. Some examples might include muscle tension or weakness, restlessness and even exhaustion, or having digestion problems. Emotionally we might experience anxiety, sadness, irritability, or become short-tempered with others. If we can identify sources of stress in your life, we can better decrease or manage stress.

Create stress-free environment?where one can find renewed strength. This stress-free environment could be a comfortable environment like a park or an experience like reading a book or taking a walk. It is vital to address stress as soon as possible to prevent chronic stress from becoming the norm.

4. Identify Purpose?

Many of the people I know seem to have a deep sense of purpose. Working for simply anything in life they’ve found ways to blend their passion, talents, and care for the world in a way that infuses their lives with meaning.

Luckily for some, having a purpose in life is associated with all kinds of benefits. Research suggests that purpose is tied to having better?health ,?longevity , and even?economic success . It feels good to have a sense of purpose, knowing that you are using your skills to help others in a way that matters to you.

5. Start Forgiving

The final step of building resilience is all about forgiveness. This is a major piece because it becomes difficult to endure new challenges when we hang onto the difficulties we have endured. This can have a considerable impact on our daily life.

Besides forgiving, we need to accept forgiveness. The previous failure is something we all know, and it's okay to let it go. When we apply these simple steps to our life, we will become much more resilient to this, I'm sure. Besides these steps, we can do some other things when encouraging children to be resilient.
