Humans are resilient.
We have an incredible ability to adapt, innovate, and create a future that didn't exist before.
This sounds great when your reading that message in the comfort of Starbucks, with chill-hop music playing in the background and life is good. It has a different ring to it when everything goes faint and the backdrop is white noise, because of the fog you are dealing with.
We've all had dark moments in our lives that we can go back to - but nothing as precedent as this.
"Everyone has a plan, till they get punched in the mouth" - Mike Tyson
I've had countless conversations regarding the ripple effect from these recent events, and my heart breaks because a lot of people will be impacted across multiple demographics. Despite the harsh reality everyone is dealing with, somehow I still believe that there is...
BEAUTY IN THE STRUGGLE
"For what's money without happiness? Or hard times without the people you love. Though I'm not sure what's 'bout to happen next. I asked for strength from the Lord up above." - J.Cole
There is truly beauty in the struggle. This isn't ignoring the fact that the storms we experience in this life could drastically change things from good to worst... or potentially death. I believe it's looking at life from a higher point of view, having the perspective that this valley could be the driving force that helps humanity stand on higher ground in the future.
This is my subjective point of view, but I believe those who are comfortable operating with less sometimes could have an advantage. I'm reminded of Malcolm Gladwell's book "David & Goliath" when he says
“There is a set of advantages that have to do with material resources, and there is a set that have to do with the absence of material resources - and the reason underdogs win as often as they do is that the latter is sometimes every bit the equal of the former.”

Last week, I felt compelled to pull out the first business book I ever read "Who Moved My Cheese? This story is so relevant in terms of what we are dealing with today. Change is truly inevitable and despite the conditions of today, according to Spencer Johnson, those who ADAPT quickly will be able to find new cheese.
"ADAPT TO CHANGE QUICKLY – The quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you can enjoy New Cheese. Don't be comfortable and think it's dangerous out there. If you anticipate and just sit there thinking they will put the cheese back – you are wrong, it won't happen.

Right now is the window of opportunity to innovate. According to Dell Technologies and the Institute For The Future, estimated that around 85% of the jobs that today’s learners will be doing in 2030 haven’t been invented yet.” And those new job demands “will seriously challenge traditional [learning] establishments.”
It's crazy to think that 2030 is only 10 years away, and this article by Dell Technologies seems more real than ever. Despite the hardship and current struggles humanity is dealing with on a global scale, this could be the gamechanger that forces us to innovate and create a better future.
