Residual Chlorine Monitoring – DPD vs Electrochemical

Residual Chlorine Monitoring – DPD vs Electrochemical

Generally, when there are two technologies to do the same job, one will usually triumph- like Betamax vs VHS or internal combustion engines vs steam engines or rotary paddles vs screw propellers.

There are some exceptions to this rule. These exceptions occur when the technologies have different strengths and weaknesses which are preferred by different parts of the market. Examples such as diesel cars vs petrol cars, PC vs Mac or Android vs iPhone.

The same is true for Online DPD vs electrochemical sensors for the online measurement of free and total residual chlorine.

Why? Because they have different strengths and weaknesses.

Depending on your needs either technology will work for you, but one is likely to be preferable to the other.

The good news is that you don’t have to choose your supplier! Process Instruments (UK) Ltd. sells a very successful range of electrochemical sensors and an online DPD option as well. Click here to watch an animation of Pi’s electrochemical sensors and click here for more information about Pi’s online DPD analyser.

However, if you’re looking for something completely new which gives you the benefits of both, watch your inbox and our LinkedIn page over the next few weeks to avoid missing out on the upcoming release of Pi’s unique patented electrochemical and online DPD analyser hybrid.
