Residential Fires resulted from Faulty Electric Appliances: The Death Toll

Fire incidents in Canada and everywhere else cause death in many cases but when the cause of the fire is a faulty electric appliance at a home, the death toll raises because the home is always the place for families and pets.?Most faulty electric appliances are just ordinary devices that are used consistently by family members. From the toaster that heats the bread in the morning to the fridge that holds the butter and the stove that cooks the egg breakfast, they are all susceptible to wear and tear and malfunction.

What do the fire statistics show about the death toll?

According to the National Fire Information Database (NFID) of Canada, there were 1733 deaths from 2005 to 2014 due to fires, 1381 of which were residential.?99% of deaths belonged to civilians and the remaining 1% were firefighters.?Adults had the highest number of deaths with 912 but the elderly were high too with 444 deaths. The children death toll was 124 while 32 youth were also among the dead and the remaining 221 deaths belonged to people of unknown ages. 320 of these deaths were due to smoke inhalation, 135 were caused by burn and 1278 of them were to unknown causes.

Out of the 127,000 residential fire incidents, 22,500 didn’t have a smoke alarm and 48,000 were unknown but the remaining 56,000 had a smoke alarm. 443 deaths occurred in households with smoke alarms! As mentioned in our earlier post, 50% of residential fires result from faulty electric appliances so we can safely assume 50% of the above-mentioned deaths also resulted from the same cause. This amounts to (1381/2) 690 deaths which is a lot. And these are just human deaths and pet stats were not included in this report.

So even having smoke alarms didn’t prevent the deaths. What is the smart solution then?

How can we eliminate fire-related deaths?

How to eliminate the death toll from residential fires?

The answer is simple: to use a smart home tech to prevent the fire in the first place. A smart tech that can detect a faulty electric appliance on the spot and raise the alarm so you can repair the device immediately and prevent a terrifying accident in your home.

#SevereSense is such a smart home tech that helps you prevent fire and protect yourself and your family including your pet. #SevereSense has an electric current sensor that can detect any dip or surge in the electric current and raise the alarm when it is at a dangerous level. It will direct you toward the cause of the surge which is a faulty electrical appliance. By repairing the device, the electric system will remain healthy and the risk of fire is eliminated.

#SevereSense eliminates the death toll of residential fires.
