Research and Research Training in the KRI: Challenges and Opportunities

I am pleased to inform that I was invited to participate in the First International Research Capacity Building Workshop running 1-4th of July, organized by 15 British universities at the International Sheraton Hotel in Erbil on June 1st, 2024. This workshop featured several seminars focusing on enhancing research capabilities in various fields. The event aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among local and international academic institutions. The workshop was sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the KRG,?Knowledge University,?Tishk International University, and Erbil Medical University

I chaired a session entitled “Developing a Vision for Research Excellence”. I also delivered a keynote speech entitled “Research and Research Training in the KRI: Challenges and Opportunities”. During my speech, I focused on the importance of Informed Decision Making, explained and listed the conditions that must exist in a work to be recognized as research. I also listed the conditions and requirements which make the outcomes from research to be considered reliable. Then, presented my views on the Status of Research and Research Outputs in the KRI. Finally, I presented three practical approaches to advance Research and Research Training in the KRI.
