Research Sprint

Research Sprint

Want to test your ideas without investing into building the product ? , yes it possible by conducting a research sprint.

Launching the MVP and iterating it to built features on top of it is the model that’s popular everywhere but how about if we started with the wrong idea itself and on top of it investing time & money to build the MVP and then finally test it in market.

how about rapid prototyping and testing our assumption with end user to gather their feedback, iterating it and finally validating the our assumptions to something end user really wants, to gets the confidence of launching the a product that end user wants refined through the user research and then investing the time & money to build the correct MVP reducing the risk and save time.

Research Sprints can help you answer some of the toughest, most important questions startups face:

  • Who are your target customers?
  • What specific characteristics distinguish your target users?
  • What problems, needs, and motivations do people have?
  • How do people evaluate and adopt products?
  • Do people understand your product’s value proposition? And how do they respond to it?
  • Which messages are most effective at explaining your product?
  • Can people figure out how to use your product?
  • Why do people stop using your product?

Instead of following the outer path why not follow the inner path of square in the below diagram to rapidly test our idea.

There are five essential components of a research sprint.

  1. Set the questions you plan to answer and the assumptions you plan to test.
  2. Carefully recruit people based on your goals: existing customers, prospective customers, representative customers, etc
  3. Built a realistic prototype you want to test.
  4. Conduct 1-on-1 interviews with the end users combining broad discovery questions with task-based evaluation of a prototype. listen and check the reaction of the end users.
  5. the entire team watches the interviews, takes notes, summarizes the findings, and decides on next steps.
