My recent free webinar
is now available on YouTube. It’s a 40-minute look at:
- How I tend to write up research reports, including insights, suggestions, and other artifacts.?
- What do I present and how do I do it??
- If you receive a CX/UX research report or insights, what can and should you do with those?
Here are some top actionable tips from the video transcript on writing research insights and what to do with a research report:
- Include insights, not just findings. Insights provide context and meaning. Findings are facts, data points, and things we saw or heard.
- Offer strategic, actionable suggestions in your report to help guide next steps. Don’t just present data and hope that your team does something good. Be that internal consultant.
- Tailor your report format and artifacts based on your audience’s needs and preferences. Ask them upfront how they want to receive the report.
- Present key takeaways up front before diving into details. Not everyone will read the full report, and you’ll want to make sure they know the core of what happened, some root causes, and some of your suggestions.
- I like to deliver my reports with a video walkthrough. People who like slides can read through those. People who like to hear someone speak have that option.?
- Report recipients, watch for biases and believing only what you want to believe from the findings. It’s easy to cherry pick results, or assume that the results are reliable except the ones you don’t like. Watch for your own biases!
- Report recipients, ask your Researcher(s) questions if you need more context or want to discuss their suggestions or advice. It’s another opportunity for teamwork and collaboration.
- Report recipients, take action based on the report insights and suggestions. Fresh knowledge should drive strategies and decisions.
