An Overview of Research Alliance Presentations at this Year's AERA Annual Meeting

We hope to see many of you at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) on April 11-14 in Philadelphia. This year’s conference theme is “dismantling racial injustice and constructing educational possibilities.” Presentations from the Research Alliance team will include:

  • On Friday, April 12, Kathryn Hill will present with Zitsi Mirakhur and Kaitlyn G. O'Hagan, PhD on “Staffing Interventions to Support Students Experiencing Homelessness: Evidence from New York City” during the 3:05 p.m. session on Policies to Address Inequality.
  • On Friday, April 12, Cheri Fancsali will present a poster on “Building Computational Thinking (CT) Readiness for All: A Planning Tool for Guiding the School-Wide Integration of CT” during the 4:55 p.m. session titled?Moving toward Just and Equitable Access to Computing Education.
  • On Friday, April 12, Xia Li, PhD , Rishika Jain , and Janice Lee will present their paper on “Computer Science Course Taking and College Major Declaration: Longitudinal Evidence From a Large Urban District” during the 4:55 p.m. session.?
  • On Saturday, April 13, Cheri Fancsali will chair a symposium on “Transforming Computer Science Classrooms for Social Justice: Developing an Equity Ecosystem in an Urban District” at 7:45 a.m.?Cheri Fancsali, Kathryn Hill, and June Mark will also present their paper on “Teacher Attitudes, Beliefs, and Implementation of Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Practices in CS Education” at the 7:45 a.m. session.
  • On Saturday, April 13, the Research Alliance’s Computer Science for All study team will present a poster co-authored with Christy Crawford (NYC Public Schools) and June Mark on “Expanding Equity in Computer Science: Lessons from a Teacher Survey in a Large Urban District” during the 11:25 a.m. session.?
  • On Sunday, April 14, Cheri Fancsali will serve as the discussant for a symposium on “Distributed Leadership to Sustain Literacy Learning for Teachers and Adolescents: Lessons Across Time and Contexts” during the 11:25 a.m. session.?
  • On Sunday, April 14, Kathryn Hill will join Zitsi Mirakhur, Sarah LaCour, Elise Castillo, Alexandra Friedus, Adriana Villavicencio, PhD , Erica Turner, Richard Blissett, and Amy Stuart Wells in a symposium on “The Persistence of School Segregation and Opportunities for Change: Lessons from New York City” at 9:35 a.m.
