Rescuing Seniors in the Aftermath of Frigid Temperatures
When the temperatures dropped during the Christmas holidays, the frigid cold in many cities across the nation caused water pipes to burst and left many without power, including seniors living in underserved communities. This caused several boil water advisories across the county. Our JenCare Senior Medical Center in south DeKalb County in Atlanta (GA) partnered with Kroger of Flat Shoals Parkway to provide free water bottle cases, food necessities, and more.
"It feels good to help, and that's what we're all about... rescuing seniors in our neighborhood and I think we did a good job rescuing some seniors today," says Kelli Stargell, Membership Growth Consultant at the South DeKalb JenCare center.
In total, the JenCare employees passed out more than 85 cases of water, food necessities, and plenty of love. Having clean water is vital to everyone’s health and JenCare is serving its community by being a resource to those in need. This community story made the local news on NBC's 11Alive .
