Rescale in Davos: Sustainable Computing powering R&D, Applied AI and Accelerating Global Innovation

We are proud that?Rescale?has been selected to join the?World Economic Forum?this year as a Global Innovator. I'm also personally excited to directly engage with our customers, partners, and global community in Davos this upcoming week. The following are some of the key agenda topics we will be engaging, contributing, and focusing our impact on.

?? Sustainability in Computing

We are looking forward to leading the conversation at WEF together with our partners like 亚马逊 , 谷歌 , 微软 , Dell Technologies , and 惠普企业服务 to tackle the computing supply chain, carbon transparency and reporting, and further initiatives for effective carbon reduction in computing. Our goal here is to help our customers make more sustainable choices, while supporting our partners that are developing new innovations to reduce and eliminate carbon from the computing footprint. The impact here has tremendous potential as 3-4% of the global carbon footprint is used to power data centers and growing rapidly due to the insatiable demand of computing in R&D, AI, and other rapidly growing activities. We have clear demonstrable examples of our customers improving their computing efficiency by over 70%, and eliminating their carbon footprint completely in certain cases through net-zero energy solutions. Through our work together as a community I'm confident w can make the impact of sustainable computing will be transformative globally.

?? Applied AI and ML in R&D

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in Research & Development (R&D) organizations has been growing rapidly. Our customers have been leveraging AI and ML techniques for a broad set of use cases from computational drug discovery to the design of electric vehicles and aircraft to the development of advanced driver assistance systems. At Rescale, we practice what we preach and have built our own AI recommender system for computing which dynamically optimizes and accurately predicting workload performance trained on billions of meta-data points. Rescale investor Sam Altman, founder of OpenAI , has been leading advances in generative AI, most recently with ChatGPT, foreshadowing the potential of generative AI in R&D. Recently, as shared in our keynote feature with Jensen Huang at Big Compute '22 we have teamed closely with 英伟达 and 麦肯锡 to jointly lead the way in the development of AI-based solutions that can be leveraged seamlessly in cloud R&D environments, directly contributing to the development of new innovative products faster accelerating the pace of innovation in aerospace, automotive, consumer products, energy, life sciences, semiconductor verticals.

Cloud platforms are transforming the future of work, especially in R&D where we see tremendous potential through improved collaboration, digital thread meta-data traceability throughout the supply chain, and the emergence of digital twins which serve as digital replica's of the real world. These new digital tools and capabilities are transformative for leading engineers, scientists, and innovators that leverage the digital capabilities to accelerate product development cycles, explore new better solutions through automated computational pipelines and AI, and bring these capabilities to market faster.

Technology innovations in this sector are critical to building a better future including global internet access from anywhere, to faster and more sustainable transportation, to developing the technologies to make us a multi-planetary species. As shared by Rescale investor Sir Richard Branson , at our Big Compute keynote, we are helping accelerate aerospace innovation at companies like Virgin Orbit making space more accessible to all. Even stalwarts like NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration are adopting the latest computing technologies to advance their mission.
