RERA/NCLT/NCRDC
Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) are all legal bodies that are involved in resolving disputes related to real estate.
1. RERA: It's a regulatory body established by the government of India to protect the rights of homebuyers and regulate the real estate industry. It has been set up to ensure transparency and accountability in real estate transactions, and to provide an efficient grievance redressal mechanism for homebuyers. RERA has the authority to hear complaints, impose penalties and revoke licenses of erring builders, real estate agents and developers.
2. National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT): It's a quasi-judicial body established by the government of India to hear and resolve disputes related to companies and limited liability partnerships. It is a body corporate and has the power of a civil court. It can hear disputes between companies and their shareholders, or between companies and other corporate entities.
3. National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC): It's a quasi-judicial body established by the government of India to hear and resolve disputes related to consumer complaints. It can hear complaints about goods or services that are defective, misdescribed or falsely advertised, or complaints about contracts or agreements that are unfair. Consumer complaints against builders can also be heard by the NCDRC if the complaint is related to any defects in the goods supplied or services provided by the builder. Depending on the nature of dispute, you can approach the respective bodies for redressal.
