Requirements for New Germany Opportunity Card -Apply Now
Are you from a country outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland and interested in applying for an opportunity card? You have two options to qualify:
Option 1: Recognized Qualifications
1. Foreign Qualification Recognition You hold a professional or academic qualification that is fully recognized in Germany. Alternatively, you completed your university degree or professional qualification in Germany. ? ? ?
Option 2: Points System
You must score at least six points in the points system and meet the following requirements:
1. Completed Training: You have completed vocational or academic training. The qualification must be recognized in the country where it was obtained and should involve at least two years of vocational training. For visa application support, obtain a positive assessment from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) online. ? ? ?
2. Language Proficiency: You must have German language skills of at least level A1 (CEFR) or English language skills of at least level B2 (CEFR).
3. Financial Resources: You need to demonstrate sufficient financial resources to support your job search in Germany. During the visa process, this can be shown with a blocked bank account (minimum of €1,027 net per month for 2024) or a declaration of commitment.
Points System Details The points system is relevant if you cannot demonstrate full recognition of a German qualification or your foreign qualification. To apply for an opportunity card visa, provide evidence of formal qualifications and language skills. Points can be earned as follows:

1. Equivalence of Qualification: If your foreign qualification has partial recognition, you receive four points. This includes cases requiring compensatory measures for regulated professions.
2. Shortage Occupation: One point is awarded if your qualification is in a shortage occupation. Check the List of Shortage Occupations for details.
3. Professional Experience: Two points for at least two years of professional experience in the last five years, or three points for at least five years in the last seven years.
4. Language Skills: One point for German skills at level A2, two points at level B1, and three points at level B2 or above. One additional point for English at level C1 or above or if you are a native speaker.
5. Age: Two points if you are 35 years old or younger, and one point if you are aged between 35 and 40.
6. Previous Stays in Germany: One point if you have legally resided in Germany for at least six months within the last five years. This includes study, language, and work stays, excluding tourism or visits.
7. Spouse/Partner Qualification: One point if your spouse or partner also meets the requirements for an opportunity card. Ensure all information provided is supported by appropriate evidence or certificates for the visa application.?
