Request/opportunity for educators

Educator friends,

I have a request/opportunity for you. I've finished my first draft of my next book and it's a BEAST (over 300 pages and 100,000 words). What started out as a simple idea has evolved into the largest project I've ever worked on - but one that I believe has TONS of potential.

Called "Worksheets Don't Work: 50 Differentiated Alternatives to Engage and Assess Learners," it's a book of ideas for teachers who want to get away from worksheets but don't know what to replace them with. The idea is that each letter in the word WORKSHEETS can give us an idea for an alternative (Word work, Options, Reflections, Kaleidoscope, Synthesis, Human interaction, Extended response, Energy and movement, Thought organizers, and Scaffolding). Within each of those ideas is five separate strategies - hence, the massiveness of the work.

Before finalizing it, though, I desperately crave feedback from educators. If you'd be willing to proofread a part of the work, here's my request/opportunity. I'll be re-posting this several times throughout October and finalize my plans by the end of the month (feel free to share):

1. Reply in the comments that you'd be willing to proofread one of the sections (approx. 30 pages).

2. Read the section and give honest feedback. What's confusing? What excites you? What did I forget to include?

3. Each of the five strategies within each section has "Variations" component. It includes tweaks that can be made to personalize each strategy for all students. If you have a variation of your own, be sure to include it in the feedback. I'd love to give you a shout out in the final copy!

4. The book will retail for $34.95. If you'd like a copy of the published book, I'll give it to you for $10. There's no pressure to buy it - this is just a nice gesture if you'd like to use the finished version.
