A request for support

(Each year after Ramadan is the celebration day Koriteh where the children all require new and special clothes and this year once again, I was able to provide for these children and more)

This is a request for support as I recover for my surgery and continue to deal with my families in Gambia. The situation in Gambia is like everywhere, more negative economic issues in one of the world’s poorest countries in the world.

There is more stress on local people, most of whom live day by day with little by way of social support or work. Many are reliant on people like me for funding for family, medical and education support.

My situation over the past two years has been difficult as I conducted my efforts with the support of many. As the situation changed in our world support gradually, declined as most people here were struggling. My own resources gradually diminished to my pension, and understandable contributions declined as well with the current economic situation.

A bright light appeared with an offer of support from a local charity in the making, who were not only interested, but keen to get involved in my Gambian efforts. They enabled me to get over one hurdle I had with school fees, which had been increasing as my contributions declined- and I breathed for a few months.

Then their application to set up a charity ran into difficulties and rejected by the Government agency which deals with charities. They must reapply and make some changes, and as a result had to reconsider supporting my Project. They had been very generous and most supportive, but until the situation is resolved, their resources are limited.

This is happening at the beginning of the third term of school, which means I need support to ensure that all my students finish their year, otherwise it will be a year lost. So, I am once again calling upon all of you who can offer a hand up to at least allow my students to end their year in school.

I realise that is not easy for anyone, and many of you have been supporting my efforts over the thirteen years of involvement in The Gambia. A little from everyone who can, will at least allow the successful end of a particularly good year for my students.

I appreciate all who consistently support me, other who have helped recently and humbly ask everyone who are able to help with this difficult situation for me, and for all the little ones and those not so little to complete their year.

?

If you are inclined, are able, and would like to help, you can be assured it would be most appreciated by my families and children, and most helpful to my cause.
