By Request: "Looking for Deals in All The Wrong Places" (Song Parody)

A few weeks ago, my friend Dave Brock challenged me to do another song parody from the Johnny Lee song "Lookin' for Love (In All The Wrong Places) ." Then, last week, another friend, Tiffani Bova, tagged me on a post where some data shows the biggest spammers are perceived to be sales (I think you can include marketing in that mix).

Well, that was the perfect storm for another song parody. Enjoy. (Feel free to request others, but no promises on follow through--I have no tip jar).

Looking for Deals In All The Wrong Places
Well, I spent a minute researching you
LinkedIn Searches and good list brokers ?were barely true
Playing a lazy game, hopin' to win
And tellin' those product pitches and losin' again

I was lookin' for deals in all the wrong places
Lookin' for deals but ignoring the basics
Glancing at lists
Lookin' for traces of anyone that fogs a mir-ror

Hoping to find a friend and a champ-yon
I pray I don’t discover, a hard working competitor
Lookin' for deals

And I was alone then, no opportunities in sight
And I dialed for dollars all through the night
No focus, little prep, just constantly hitting send
I pretended these strangers were my close friend

I was lookin' for deals in all the wrong places
Lookin' for deals but ignoring the basics
Glancing at lists
Lookin' for traces of anyone that fogs a mir-ror

Hoping to find a friend and a champ-yon
I pray I don’t discover, a hard working competitor
Lookin' for deals

Then a strange one (this would be Dave) knocked ?on my boss’s door
Offering ideas for the sales floor

No more lookin' for deals in all the wrong places
Lookin' for deals that aren’t blind chases
Researching fit
Leading with focus
On issues they’ve been dreaming of

Now that I found an ICP and a purpose
I bless the day I discovered
Simple steps for lookin' for deals

that aren’t blind chases
Researching fit
Leading with focus on issues they’ve been dreaming of
Now that I found an ICP and a purpose
I bless the day I discovered
Simple steps for lookin' for deals

It's March 31. Don't be an April Fool tomorrow and beyond. Do the work to look for deals in all the right places.

Amazing Hank Barnes! I'm sending an emergency request to the Grammy's, asking they create a special award category for the upcoming show. Maybe they can get Johnny Lee to sing it,,,, Can't wait to see your acceptance speech.
