Request for Applications | Medicare Academy: Capacity-Building for Advancing Medicare-Medicaid Integration

More than 13 million people in the U.S. are dually eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid, a population that often has significant health and social needs and high related costs. A small, but growing percentage of this population is enrolled in integrated programs that coordinate Medicare and Medicaid service delivery. To develop and operate an integrated care model, state Medicaid and partner agency staff must develop knowledge of Medicare’s evolving landscape of policies, regulations, and market activity. However, they often have limited access to Medicare-focused information and training. The Medicare Academy, a practical training program led by the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS), is designed to help Medicaid agency staff build Medicare knowledge to successfully advance their integration goals.

CHCS is seeking applicants for the third cohort of the Medicare Academy. These in-person training sessions will help selected teams build and apply Medicare knowledge to advance their specific integration goals and related priorities. CHCS intends to select up to three states, commonwealths, or territories to plan a multi-day Medicare training for their state. All Medicaid agencies are eligible to apply. The Academy is made possible with support from Arnold Ventures, The Commonwealth Fund, and The SCAN Foundation. Applications are due February 21, 2025.
