Republicans threaten government shutdown over immigration

Hard-right members of the House Freedom Caucus are once again threatening to shut down the government if their draconian anti-immigration measures are not included in a spending bill, according to @nytimes

This group of extreme right House members are once again holding Democrats, as well as the slightly more moderate members of their party, hostage over the border.

They are refusing to allow even a temporary stop-gap bill to keep the government funded if it doesn’t include a crackdown on so-called border security.?

Once again, they are using the border and immigration as political pawns to make their constituents think they are actually doing the work of the government. It simply isn’t the case.
