Republic Day....

More than 6 decades after India's independence seemed to be plenty of time for the sense of nationalism to develop from an abstract idea to something genuine and palpable in the lives of young Indians.

Should all those lessons on fraternity and brotherhood passed down to us be limited to the confines of schools, anxious to hoist the national flag and 'enjoy' this 'important' day??

Are these values still relevant today? What does patriotism entail for today's young buddies? How simple is it to consider the country?

Unlike in the past, patriotism is rapidly becoming an expression that must be demonstrated rather than just felt. On republic and independence days, we see passionate people waving tricolor flags on automobiles and motorcycles, as well as sporting tricolor wrist bands and badges.

Do we, on the other hand, truly understand the significance of Republic Day??

This isn't just another holiday; that's really important thing to understand.

The celebrations have a lot of meaning. Here are few facts about Republic Day that might grab your attention about the day's significance and celebration essence-

  • The Republic Day celebrations are actually three days long! The Beating Retreat takes place at the conclusion of Republic Day's third day.
  • In the country, there are only two original versions of the Constitution, one in Hindi and one in English. They have been kept in helium-filled cases in India's Parliament. This constitution was handwritten rather than printed. Only 1000 copies of such photolithographic reproductions have been written to date.
  • The President speaks on Republic Day, whereas the Prime Minister addresses Independence Day.
  • Our Constitution is the world's longest. You will not be able to finish it in a mere day. It was not easy to write the constitution. Before the final version was formed, the Assembly met for 166 days, spanning out across two years, 11 months, and 18 days. Yes, it was all handwritten, and the 26th of January marked the genuine beginning of the celebration of Independence.?

Today is India's 73rd Republic Day, the day that the country's constitution was written and put into effect.

We reveal that while Republic Day may be a perfect vacation for most of us, it has a deeper meaning; it boils down to conceding to patriotism in all aspects of our lives, from trying to stand up for the national anthem after purchasing a pricey multiplex movie ticket to little young kids singing the national song without understanding the lyrics.
