Report: Over 90 Illegals On Terrorist Watch List Being Released Into the United States

According to a congressional report, under the Harris/Biden administration, around 99 illegals on the United States’ terrorist watch list were released into America.

From the beginning of fiscal year 2021 to the completion of fiscal 2023, according to the Border Patrol, it encountered approximately 282 illegals on the terrorist watch list in between ports of entry near the southern border. On October 1st, since the beginning of fiscal 2024, the Border Patrol encountered an extra 93 foreign nationals on the U.S. terrorist watch list alongside the border.?

According to the report, these aliens came from 36 countries, which includes nations that have ‘an active terrorist presence like Yemen, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Tajikistan, Syria, Somalia, Pakistan, Mauritania, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Afghanistan.’

The watch list includes ‘people representing a potential threat to the U.S., which includes well-known affiliates of watchlisted people,’ according to United States Customs & Border Protection, a Border Patrol parent agency and itself a part of the DHS (Department of Homeland Security).

Amid increasing Middle East conflict after Hamas' terrorist attacks on October 7th in Israel, multiple recent border encounters raised concerns about security.?

For example, in July, agents with the Border Patrol arrested 3 Palestinian illegals after finding out about their potential links to terrorist organizations.?

In June, DHS identified more than 400 illegal immigrants as a "concern" because these people were brought to the United States through an ISIS-associated human smuggling network. Even though more than 150 of them have been arrested, the position of the other people isn’t known.?

ICE (United States Immigration & Customs Enforcement) arrested 8 illegal immigrants also in June from Tajikistan after it was found that they had potential ties to the terrorist group, ISIS. Originally, the 8 were released into America because the initial border vetting did not generate any concerns about security.?

The release of illegals who have ties to ISIS emphasizes a theme of the report by the House Judiciary Committee-- proper information and a lack of vetting led to releasing illegal aliens on the watch list.?

According to the report, rather than getting vetted against databases within their home countries, illegals are just screened against Interpol and United States criminal databases.

So, if an illegal immigrant committed crimes in her or his home country but not inside the United States, the border crosser isn’t likely to be flagged as a threat.?

The report states problems associated with a lack of data sharing with immigration judges. For instance, last February, law enforcement arrested Mohammad Kharwin, an Afghan national, who’s on the terrorist list, after he spent nearly one year free inside the United States.

However, in March of 2024, an immigration judge let Kharwin go because the judge was not informed of the man being a security threat and a part of a radical group that was designated by the United States as a terrorist organization. Mohammad was arrested again when the media exposed the case.??

The committee report concluded that the Kharwin case additionally illustrates how immigration judges--that hear immigration cases and are able to determine whether an illegal should stay detained--aren’t equipped to deal with national security-associated cases.

The report went on to add that those lack of details may also explain why such judges granted bond to a minimum of 27 listed illegals who were encountered in between ports of entry on the southwest border from fiscal years 2021 to 2023.?

Thankfully, as the committee report claims, the Department of Homeland Security has started to change some of its policies to grant these types of judges accessibility to classified data concerning whether an illegal poses a security threat to our nation.??

Plus, the Border Patrol encountered thousands of additional illegals since the month of October from nations that might pose a U.S. security threat.?

In fiscal year 2024, the Border Patrol around the nation encountered 3,104 Uzbek nationals, 520 Syrian nationals, 541 Iranian nationals, 33,347 Chinese nationals, and 2,134 Afghan nationals, as of June.

Also, those encounters involve 62 from Lebanon, 123 from Yemen, 433 from Kazakhstan, 704 from Somalia, 734 from Pakistan, 752 from Kyrgyzstan, and 1,260 from Russia.

The report concludes that the Biden/Harris administration continuously prioritizes illegals--which includes hundreds of people on the terrorist watch list and a lot more terrorist-sympathizing counties--over the security and safety of people in America.
