Replacing Butterfly valves - live system

Retracting and installing Butterfly valves in live piping systems using the AOGV method has proven to be robust. No need to drain or restart the processing system; no need for a shutdown. This AOGV is installed over the wafer-type Butterfly valve, sealing on the pipe flanges as normal for this method. The next generation AOGV is ready for service based on experience from the first unit. Thoughts on a Friday.

Butterfly valves have to be replaced from time to time. It is common to drain that segment of piping taking the system out of operation. Not anymore; the AOGV for butterfly valves is catching more and more attention and use.

This generation AOGVs for Butterfly valves handles the valves and the rased face sealing surface with care, floating the old valve out from the piping system flanges, not touching the flange sealing surface. An integral transportation trolley lifts the valve off the flange sealing surface. The steps are reversed and the valve is floated in and positioned accurately and installed in the piping system. The system is fully operational, and upon completion, only pipe and valve.

The first planned operation for the new AOGV is replacing an isolation valve on a firewater main ring without taking the firewater system down.

Another six Butterfly valves are studied to be replaced using an AOGV in a plant. This will significantly simplify the replacement compared to the previous method for that particular case, and the system will operate as normal. The earlier operation included shutting the system down and moving a lot of pipework.

The AOGV is replacing wafer type Butterfly vales in live systems and the interest is growing.
