Solving a Trillion $ Energy Problem with AI (Stealth) | Built EV DOCTOR?
Electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining popularity due to their environmental benefits, lower operating costs, and advancements in battery technology. However, the degradation of lithium-ion batteries over time presents a significant challenge for EV owners. Replacing an entire battery pack is both costly and environmentally taxing.
But lets understand the cost per KM first to figure out the sustainability
We've all heard that the running cost of an electric scooter is around 15-20 paisa per km. However, this only accounts for charging costs. I recently looked into the cost of replacement batteries for various brands and discovered that most companies offer a battery warranty for 50,000 to 60,000 km, even though they claim the batteries can last up to 70,000 to 90,000 km.
The price of a new battery is between ?55,000 and ?70,000. If you calculate the battery cost over the warranty period, the real cost per km is much higher. The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), including battery costs, is actually around ?1.1 to ?1.3 per km.
So, when a company claims the running cost is only 15-20 paisa per km, make sure to consider the full cost, including battery replacement.
