Repeat + Random + Reuse (Midjourney sref?codes)

Repeat + Random + Reuse (Midjourney sref?codes)

Fresh take on obtaining your own Midjourney sref codes, then what to do with?them.

There are some awesome daily shares of the coolest --sref codes discovered on Midjourney. For those who do not know HOW to discover them (without finding them shared by someone on Social Media, LinkedIn or Medium) - here you go.

First, I am starting with a fun prompt and results - so you can see what it looks like without any sref codes applied:

photo of a building made from concrete, steel beams and wood, blend of brutalist architecture and traditional Japanese Tea House, reflections on the water, professional photography, surreal photo of an angular geometric building by a mountain streambed, Knoxville Tennessee. Minimalist concrete stairs, walls and details, brutalist architecture, sculptural design --ar 16:9 --style raw --v 6.1

Now, in your prompting, simply add to the end:

--sref random

This will have the AI generate a random --sref code, give you a render of 4 images using that sref code applied to your prompt, and in the 'notes' for the results - share with you the code. But this will only provide 1 srf code and 1 set of rendered results.

Now, I could copy that prompt, paste it over again and repeat multiple times - but there is a faster way.

To multiply the effect, say you want to generate 10 different random codes at the same time, you would use the --Repeat parameter. Like this:

--sref random --repeat 10

So adding that to my original prompt, it looks like this:

photo of a building made from concrete, steel beams and wood, blend of brutalist architecture and traditional Japanese Tea House, reflections on the water, professional photography, surreal photo of an angular geometric building by a mountain streambed, Knoxville Tennessee. Minimalist concrete stairs, walls and details, brutalist architecture, sculptural design --ar 16:9 --style raw --v 6.1 --sref random --repeat 10

Midjourney will then start up 10 new prompts (each with a different --sref code) and produce 4 rendered results per prompt. 40 different images! Here are the sref codes it shared with me - and the resulting images produced.

--sref 2834248101

--sref 4112184252

--sref 551457116

--sref 1210859524

--sref 1677255693

--sref 639037501

--sref 2967596616

--sref 3965688993

--sref 542327180

--sref 2422496373

Awesome. Now we have 10 new SREF codes that we can apply to other prompts. While with these prompts + renders + SREF codes?—?we have a general style visible, the nuances of the SREF code is not clearly understood. To better see what this SREF code will do, you will want to see it on other things. A way you can do that ‘creatively’ is to play with Stylize. What do I mean…

Adding a?—?stylize parameter with a high value will result in images that have highly artistic compositions (ie?—?a stronger Midjourney influence) often with additional details, more dramatic lighting, and more interesting angles. Acceptable parameter values range from 0–1000 with 100 being the default. Ramping that bad boy up to 1000 can amplify MJ’s influence, taking it down to 0 can reveal more the origin. This means we can run a simple prompt like:

poster print of random objects.?—?ar 3:5?—?sref 2422496373?—?stylize {0, 1000}?—?v 6.1

This will be using the last SREF code from the collection of 10 above?—?and providing 2 renders. 1 with a Stylize of 0, and 1 with 1000.

So, the SREF code of 2422496373, has a strong correlation of red & black, illustrative artwork (versus photos), a strong hint of Asian elements, with an emphasis on circles and round objects and sea creatures. How can I tell? I observed!

Nice! What I did is to get a better 'feel' of what the sref is for, I prompted MJ this: a layout of a moodboard with different kinds of images --sref <insert your sref> It looks weird, right but wait, look carefully and you'll see that it's actually an sref that emmulates the SIMs! from there, you can create your board..

My question is how can I create my srefs...if I upload my own images and use them as reference, is the process the same? BTW...this is super helpful

So, if I understand correctly, "--serf random —-repeat 10" will result in 10 images that are similar in "appearance" to the first set of images but different in style or did I get that wrong? Great Prompt by the way.

Nice, though I like being systematic. Started at 1000 and working my way up. It's going to take the rest of my life, and that of my children and their children unto the 20th generation, but it's fun!
