REOPENING: Which habits do we keep, and which ones go?

Host, Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel | Senior Editor at Large @ LinkedIn
Welcome back to the REOPENING series . Our goal, all along, has been to empower ourselves to resume control of our careers--to own our ambition and envision a better future.
So, for our fourth episode, we’re bringing Nir Eyal on the show to talk about habits.
When quarantine arrived, I had to change all of my habits at once. It’s not like I thought out my approach. Like so many people, I was just trying to get by. It took months for me to realize I’d actually developed new habits. Some of them, I loved. Some of them, I didn’t. Like, for example, I was reaching for a glass of wine every single day, drinking about twice as much as before quarantine.
This week, Nir will help us take inventory of how we do things—and decide what stays and what goes.
Nir Eyal wrote a best-selling book about making habits called Hooked . Then he wrote another one about breaking habits called Indistractible. In this episode he’ll offer his theory on time management. He’ll encourage us to take ownership of our attention because yes, he believes that’s something we can do. And he’ll give us four things to do right now to help us choose our habits, rather than falling into them. You can check out the episode here , or listen below:

???Homework Assignment: Time to tackle your habits
This week for our assignment, I invite you to journal once more. Set the time for 15 minutes. Open to a fresh page. And write these two questions at the top: What is one new habit you have adopted during the pandemic that you plan to carry forward? What is one habit you aspire to build? Once you identify these habits, write about what you plan to do and who you plan to be to live with it--or without it. Then, join us for Office Hours on Wednesday at 3pm EST to discuss . You can find us on the LinkedIn News Page or email [email protected].
