Reopening of California

Reopening of California

Governor Gavin Newsom has said the reopening of CA would be based on facts and data, yet shortly after some of the beaches reopening he is mandating a close once again of the beaches in Orange County. The even more disturbing part is that he was threatening to close all beaches in CA. What are the data and facts here? Newsom didn’t like some of the pictures? On the ca.gov website we can see in the entire of state of CA there are 3,495 total Covid-19 patients as of April 28th, this was an increase of 40 from the previous day. In the ICU’s around CA there are 1,186 total Covid-19 patients, which was an increase of 5 from the previous day. This is a far cry from our hospitals being overwhelmed and in fact in conversations with trusted professionals in the industry, say many hospitals are a ghost town as “elective” surgeries are being put on hold, Palomar Health announced yesterday the layoff of 317 employees. I believe these data points are far more beneficial than the number of new confirmed cases. Based on studies (facts and data)presented over the past few weeks it appears the infection rate has been far higher than initially believed, so of course with more testing capability the number of new cases will rise, but it may have little impact on hospitalizations and mortalities. This is destroying revenue for the hospitals and could have negative effects for the health of our community as well. I again am not advocating for a complete reopen, but we need to look at this in phases. Taking our beaches away after no data is just wrong as it could have provided us with new data and been a good stepping stone for getting people out of their homes. I am having a hard time seeing how any of this can in fact be constitutional. Many of you know I am not a big fan of Elon Musk and Tesla, but I was glad to see his rant as he points out the livelihood of many of these small businesses will not survive. Many people are becoming fed up with this lockdown and want to see some type of progress towards getting our economy going once again.

It’s certainly troubling how we are guiding through this. It’s not based on fact or science. Troubling. I’m glad the city of HB is going to fight this as they voted 5-2 (who voted against this) to file an injunction.

I drove around several large hospitals in my area and six story parking garages had at most 40 cars. The veterans hospital had one car and an ambulance in the parking lot. I live across the street from another large hospital, it is very slow, parking lot has less than 30 cars. My mom drove around the hospitals in her area, they are empty. We called a few hospitals to ask why they were so empty and were told because they are not allowing visitors and cancelled elective surgery, doctors visits, etc. Go check it out, if you're in the neighborhood.
