To our valued supporters,
Over the last 90+ days, we know all of our lives have been upended multiple times navigating a new world. As we go forward, we want to share what we know, and what we don’t know. Before we share what we do know, we’d love to ask your feedback on returning to Greater Nevada Field with this survey: https://atmilb.com/31b9a3S
With your help on the survey, we’ve got some plans to share as well.
We are going to play soccer matches, but there are still a number of details to work through; including if you can come watch our home matches. The United Soccer League Board, which I am a member of, voted to return to play in July with a 16 match season (our first road win will count as part of the season). The team has resumed full squad training as of this week. A testing protocol has begun with regular scheduled testing of everyone who comes in contact with the team. All of our matches will be streamed on ESPN+, and we plan to have them all on local television as well, But, will we have fans in the stadium?
As of this writing, we just don’t know. But we are not sitting around and waiting. We have joined forces with the Las Vegas Aviators and Las Vegas Lights FC to coordinate a stadium re-opening protocol to submit to the Governors office. As we stand in Phase 2 of our State re-opening, professional sports can be played but without fans in the stadium. Phase 3 guidance on professional sports hasn’t been determined, so we are hopeful that our 44 page plan will provide comfort and security that we can and will SAFELY provide live sports to a limited number of fans inside our stadiums.
If we are allowed to have fans, our season members will be the first fans welcomed to matches. We expect social distancing rules to be put in place with lower capacity. We may have other rules to follow, and will share those with you as soon as we have approved guidance from the Governor’s office.
Our team is working as hard as ever to be ready for you as soon as we are able. While this note may not give you all the answers you’d like, I wanted to provide a fully transparent update and ask for patience with hope that sports will be enjoyed in downtown Reno in 2020.
And if you missed earlier, we’d love to have you fill out this brief survey on returning to Greater Nevada Field: https://atmilb.com/31b9a3S
Be safe. Stay healthy.
