RENHARD SIMON

SKT Gallery is pleased to present German artist Reinhard Simon and his two pieces Dance, Sufi! Dance! and Nature is Evolving! in our virtual instalment of our exhibition RestART the Planet

Reinhard was born in Germany and since childhood dreamed of becoming an artist or a draughtsman at Disney. However, later in life, he lost touch with painting and drawing and pursued various career paths such as, radio presenter, high school biology and chemistry teacher, and co-authored a play, which he both directed and acted in. Returning to the creative arts, through working in the theatre, inspired Reinhard to also return to drawing, which evolved into the digital drawing he is creating today. Reinhard is a firm believer in other pursuing their passions, even if it takes a bit of time to find their way.

Reinhard is greatly inspired by spirituality and the ways in which spirituality can enrich a person’s life. The spiritual messages of his pieces are not always obvious but can be made clear through the titles. Reinhard mainly works with regular patterns and utilises Hard-edge Painting, a style where there is an abrupt transition between areas of colour.

Nature is Evolving shows how nature and technology are becoming more symbiotic in the digital age. Reinhard’s piece both celebrates nature’s beauty, with the clear images of a flower and tradition colours that represent nature, blue and green, while also celebrating how technology can depict nature in different ways. As RestART the Planet partners with WhereFrom UK, a tree-planting organisation, each of Reinhard’s contributions to the exhibition will account for one tree planted, furthering the positive evolution of nature.

You can find more of Reinhard’s work through his Instagram, @r1nehard_rare-art, where he also does competitions to win free prints. You can also purchase Reinhard’s print here, each of his prints are limited to ten copies.

RestART the Planet will be running on the SKT website until January 5th. Be sure to check out all our artists and our progress planting trees with WhereFrom UK
