Renewables NOW?? and less fossil fuels, the only solution for the planet

Good morning! We are back after a busy few weeks, where we played a major role at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the world's largest gathering of political, financial, and business leaders ??. Our Executive Chairman, Ignacio Galán, stood out as leading figure among Spanish executives and was one of the most sought-after global leaders at the event.

At Davos, we reached ?a historic ?? agreement with Norges Bank Investment Management , enhancing our clean energy mega-alliance, which could see more than €2 billion in joint investment to further advance renewables ? in Spain and Portugal.

Ignacio Galán: "“Innovative agreements like this allow us to combine our knowledge in clean energy and our financial strength with those of Norges Bank Investment Management, a truly progressive partner, building on our alliance that has been growing for many years.”

At the event, we also launched an insightful new report with the Economist Impact , highlighting the importance of businesses adopting green skills programs for their workforce??♀?. This will ensure that the huge potential of the energy transition, including its positive impacts on job creation, particularly in clean energy, electrification, energy efficiency, and research and development, benefits society as a whole. And for this to happen, it is essential that we all get involved.

Discussions in Switzerland also looked to the future , exploring the path ahead in an essential sector like energy. Ignacio Galán's stance is clear and resolute: ?? There are no shortcuts to stop climate change. The only solution is #renewables, as he said ?in an interview with CNBC.

"We are convinced that we have to do something for the planet. And the best thing for the people is to invest en renewables[...] Renewables are more efficient, are cheaper, cleaner, and create million of jobs worldwide.

Putting an end to our dependence on harmful fossil fuels for our planet ?? must be done today, not 30 years from now. That’s why at Iberdrola, we firmly believe that the only way forward is through clean ?? energy.

Renewables around the world ??: UK

We’re closely following ?the progress of our East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm, located off the coast of Norfolk, England, and relying on several international suppliers, including the Asturian company Windar Renovables.

They are responsible for manufacturing the 95 transition pieces of the park – giant structures measuring 20 meters and weighing 300 tons– which are already starting to take shape. This will require more than 2 million hours of work across 23 months, generating 400 jobs ??♀? ????.

?? The East Anglia THREE wind farm will have a capacity of 1,400 megawatts (MW) and will supply clean energy to 1.3 million families once commissioned in 2026.
